How to Get Out of a Rut

There are two times every year when I find myself falling into a rut; January and July. Summer is a time that's (naturally) supposed to be full of Summer dresses, smiles and far too many trips to the beach, and while all of the above are usually easily accomplished, it is all too easy to get stuck in a pattern of eat, work, sleep, repeat. Routines completely change, you don't see your friends as often as you normally would, and most of us head back home from the city, to some of the most rural places imaginable. Naturally, I have quite a lot of experience when it comes to getting stuck in a rut, so today I'm sharing some of my top tips on how to get back out of it!

Time flies when you're having fun, and time flies when you're not having fun. Time just flies, and it's so important to set aside some time just for you, to do things you love (other than working or sleeping). Meet up with your friends, go for a run, find a new hobby - try to do more of what works for you, and what make you happy, and try to find happiness in everyday life.

Try to explore new things, new foods and new places. Everything and anything that allows you to explore allows you to learn and grow. Try to remember that Travel is not the only thing that allows you to adventure, and just because you're stuck at home working nearly seven days a week doesn't mean that you don't have time to try something new. Allow yourself to wander, and try to become a "Yes" person.

Stop wasting time. If you blink your eyes three times Summer will pretty much already be over, so stop wasting all of it binge watching Netflix, or binge drinking so much that you don't remember what happened the night before. Just stop binging in general. Invest your time into something valuable. The world has so much to offer, but we don't really have that much time to experience it all. Choose how you spend your time wisely.

Finally, don't be afraid to be yourself, and take time to find who you are rather than trying to fit into what society tells you to be. You are worth more than what anyone will ever think of you for being who you are. Do what you love, the world is your oyster.

Summer is a time full of Summer dresses, smiles and far too many trips to the beach. I feel like I've successfully ticked all the above off my list, and thankfully I've mastered beating those initial Summer blues too. I guess this outfit celebrates that. This Topshop dress is the most comfortable Summer dress I ever did own, and of course the Penneys shoes are everything. My friend picked up a pair before we finished college, and when I saw them I couldn't help but pick myself up a pair too! I've left a few links to what I'm wearing and similar pieces below

Until next time,
