Christmas is just
about knocking on our door, and while we’re all spending too much time
stressing over what we’re going to wear and how we’re going to style our
favourite Winter trends, it seems as though many of us have forgotten that
there is more than one way to accessorize an outfit. While sparkly clutches and
too-high heels are often perfect finishing touches, an outfit never truly seems
complete without adding a touch of eye shadow or even a bold Winter lip. The
task of choosing the perfect Winter products can be a struggle at times, so
I’ve put together some of my Winter makeup must haves to help you add a
finishing touch to your favourite winter look.
Face
While highlighting
has always played a major role in our daily makeup routines, this season has
seen the trend explode as we all begin to strive for radiant, fresh skin. For
those of you that are only beginning to dip your feet in the increasingly
popular trend, a more affordable product might suit you better. The Sleek
Solstice Highlighting Palette can be regarded as one of the best budget highlighter buys of all
time. With four shades and a brush priced at €12.49 you simply can’t go wrong!
However if you’ve been in the highlighting game for a while then maybe it’s
time to up your level by trying the cult product BECCA’s Shimmering Skin Perfector
pressed in Champagne Pop. This apricot-gold highlighter is the must have highlighting product of
all time with a hue that fits perfectly into any Christmas makeup regime
Eyes
Christmas is the
perfect time to experiment with different eye makeup looks. From simple to
sparkly makeup looks, anything and everything works at Christmas time. MAC’s
Warm Neutral palette is my go-to for daily Christmas looks. Priced at
€59.50 (Brown Thomas), this palette
is an investment piece. If you’re not quite feeling ready to commit, the Maybelline
“The Nudes” Palette (€14.99) has the perfect neutral shades – and for a fraction of the cost, valued at
€13. Although keeping it neutral and fresh faced is very on trend this season,
there’s no denying that Christmas simply would not be complete without a sparkly eye makeup look. Urban
Decay’s Moondust Shadows (€40) are probably the most pigmented on the
market, but if you’re looking for the extra “wow-factor” MAC’s Glitter is a
Christmas essential, and with Ben Nye Glue it’s sure the last all
night. This Christmas I’m obsessing over all things that sparkle, so adding
sparkle to the eyes seems like the perfect way to pull your go-to Christmas
look together.
Lips
Would it really be
Christmas without a statement red lip? Although Kylie Jenner has well and truly sparked the matte lipstick trend,
Christmas sees the end of this era as we await the new year. Shimmery lipsticks
and lipglosses are my Christmas go-to. I’m a firm believer that every makeup
bag should contain a staple red lip. I’m currently lusting over all things NARS,
in particular the Audacious Lipstick (€30) in the shade Carmen. Christmas is a
time for bold lips, so heighten the drama with your favourite gloss. NYX
Butter Glosses (€7) never disappoint, but if you’re looking for a go-to
Christmas shade and a high colour payoff, Bobbi Brown’s Scarlet Lipgloss (€24) is
one gloss that you’re makeup bag cannot live without
Until next time,
