The "F" Word

"Feminism is not a dirty word. It does not mean you hate men, it does not mean you hate girls that have nice legs and a tan, and it does not mean you are a bitch or a dyke, it means you believe in equality -" Kate Nash

Feminism. The "F" word. A small word with a lot of big misconceptions. No, not all feminists are lesbian, not all feminists are against beauty products or other generally beautiful women. Feminism is merely a movement of change towards a world of equality between men and women. So here's a list of reasons why I think Feminism is important in today's society;

1. Freedom of Clothing Choice; Because what you wear doesn't define whether you're 'looking for it' or not. Seriously. In the US a woman is raped every six seconds. That's scary

2. Emotional Equality; Period jokes. Seriously, just because it's that 'time of the month' does not invalidate opinions, attitudes or general outlooks on life. Genitals do not dictate how you act, how you feel, or who you are

3. Because the word 'woman' is used as an insult

4. Expectations of perfection; Yes, it is unrealistic to expect every girl to have the perfect figure, hair and makeup. And quite frankly it is unfair to call anyone, man or woman, up on their physical appearance

5. Pop Culture; I'm talking music here. "Blurred Lines," and "I don't mind" being probably the most prominent hits undermining women

6. Media; Have you ever seen an advertisement with a stay-at-home Dad instead of a stay-at-home Mom?

7. Because vests are often called 'wife beaters.'

8. Wolf Whistling; Because this is still a thing.

9. Because many people I know will probably judge me based on this post; Some will laugh, some will cringe but only few will understand

10. Because the word "feminist" still carries negative connotations

Aloha readers! Yet another OOTD (outfit of the day) is going live on the blog. Today I'm pretty much wearing last weeks wages (I know *sob*) so all these pieces are recent. I'm not really sure how I feel about this little number, but make sure to check out my FACEBOOK or INSTAGRAM to see how I styled them differently (and unfortunately somewhat better, but I just didn't get a photoshoot opportunity) Take a peek at my latest shots and let me know what you think of this maybe overcast outfit in the comments below;

Top, Boohoo // Skirt, Miss Guided // Shoes, Miss Guided // Bandana, River Island

Bracelet, Links of London // Watch, Michael Kors

This outfit is really plain and simple, so I picked it up a little by wearing my black halter neck recent Topshop purchase, just to add a little wow factor to this look. The pictures don't really do this skirt any favours, but either way I definitely see this piece becoming a wardrobe staple in the future, and (thankfully) it was on sale so I didn't have to break the bank on this one!

Shop the Look;
Top - Boohoo
Skirt - Miss Guided
Racerback Bra - Topshop
Shoes - Miss Guided

Down Time Essentials

*image courtesy of tumblr*

Aloha fans, friends, followers and frogs - welcome back to the blog! Today I'm talking all things down time, so basically nights in on your own wooo..! So here's a list of my ultimate relaxation essentials;

Here we go;

1. Lush Bath Bombs; Okay the bath bombs are great but my preference is really the bubble bars - can't beat a good bubbly bath, so make sure you pop into Lush and stock up for all those nights you need a bit of a pick me up!

2. Facemasks; You really cannot beat stripping back your face when you've had a bad day, just to rinse away the bad vibes yaass. I love the little tubs you can get in Lush because they actually last so long!

3. Scented Candles; I personally feel like I'd love to use scented candles in my room the whole time but quite frankly I think I'm a bit too clumsy for that - but if you still wanna relax without the whole fire hazard vibes try putting a few drops of Lavender Oil on your pillow

4. Hot water bottle; Cosy and cute, need I really say any more?

5. Netflix; Unless you're into pirating, that's cool too

6. Hot Chocolate & Cookies; The foods of the Gods. I'm literally not lying when I say I cannot go to bed without a hot chocolate

7. Icecream; Just to heal all heart breaks

8. Hot Water Bottles; Again, cosy and cute

9. Social Networking; Admit it, nights in alone were made for insta-stalking and staying up all hours tweeting about all things random

10. Yoghurt; I think you see where this is going

I guess that's it from me for now,

Sleepover Essentials

Bonjour mes amis, today we're talking all the top sleepover essentials - so take a look at my must haves below and let me know if I left anything out in the comments below (PS the image above is clearly not mine - totally tumblr, but seriously how sleepover perfect is this?)

Okay here we go;

1 Cute Pyjamas; Yes, this is a must have - whether it's just generally lounging around someone else's house or for taking cute photos pick up a pair! If you know me, you'll know I only always wear matching sets like these cute Topshop ones above (but don't worry Penneys/Primark do much more affordable ones so check them out too!).

2. Pizza; Whether it's dinner or a midnight snack, you are so worth the extra calories.

3. Chick Flicks; Time to embrace the cheesiness and wallow in your own self pity at the thought of your own failed love life. No point in trying to hide it, we all do it sometimes. My faves would have to either be The Notebook or Water for Elephants

4. Ben & Jerry's;  This really just goes hand in hand with the chick flicks and the endless boy problems. Woo teenage life woo.

5. Chocolate & Sweets; The perfect 2:00am snacks, or if there's some leftover maybe even eat it for breakfast, because you're worth it. Go on I dare you

6. Facemasks; Yes these will forever be sleepover essentials. I love the cucumber peel off ones you can get in H&M because they're literally no mess. I found the ones pictured above in Boohoo and New Look

7. Roll-on Deodorant; This is great for preventing BO without stinking out your bestfriends house. Just for that added R-E-S-P-E-C-T

8. Hair Brush; Just because I really do not like borrowing someone else's hairbrush

9. Toothbrush & Toothpaste; The most forgotten essentials in the world. Avoid some nasty nasty morning breath

10. Yoghurt

*once again overly cute tumblr-spiration*

Gold Enamelling

Hey hey, welcome back to my blog! I am super excited to finally be posting another OOTD (outfit of the day) post, especially seen as its been about four weeks since my last one! Fret not, there's more to come in the next few weeks. Today I've styled up the Miss Guided Jumper Dress. Although yes it is a really cosy jumper, I must say I'm kind of undecided as to whether I like it or not, so keep an eye on my DePop (here) because it may be going up in the coming weeks!

Jumper Dress, Miss Guided // Shirt, H&M // Shoes, Miss Guided // Necklace, H&M

I must say I am absolutely in love with these Miss Guided shoes, they're so comfy and so versatile - they go with pretty much everything. These come in white too, but they're an extra €10, so I really felt they weren't worth the beans.

That's it from me for today! Don't forget to drop a comment and let me know what you think of the dress - I'm still undecided!

PS Apologies for the uber cheesy poses plus that really bad tan line on my feet..!
