Staying focused: Studying

Hey, hey! I'm back with a bit of midweek motivation! With Summer Exams starting in the next week, and of course the Junior and Leaving Cert approaching way too fast, I figured it was time to share a few of my study tips and tricks with you guys, to make sure you all get the results that you want, need and deserve!

Dreams don't work unless you do

Determination will get you through this

Okay there's a few things you just must do before you even begin opening a book, but they're pretty plain and simple and of course will help you with pretty much every other aspect of your life;

1. Eat well: This is an absolute must, no excuses. It's particularly common in teenage culture to skip meals or to pack your day with junk food, so this must end! Your body needs fuel in order for you to function properly, so avoid skipping meals and eat healthy

2. Exercise: I don't think people realise how important this really is. I don't think I even did until I started running in January. Exercise changes everything, and don't just take it from me, check out this article over HERE to get the low down

3. Sleep: Again, a common teenage mistake. We all fall victim to staying up too late and dragging ourselves out of bed in the morning, so get your bum in bed by 10:30pm at the latest so that you're fully energised for the next day.

So those are pretty standard things you should be practicing everyday, despite your exams, but keep scrolling to get all the deets on studying like a pro;

Never, ever give up. You can do more than you think you can.

Be fearful of mediocrity

1. Set Goals: Yes, this is vital. There is absolutely no point in sitting down to study without planning what you actually want to achieve, so write it down or make a log in your phone but either way if you want to study smart you will HAVE to set a goal

2. Clean, Quiet, Well-lit  Study Area: Full Stop.

3. Stay Hydrated: This sounds basic, but for me I have to have something that will keep my hydrated and awake, so I usually drink a pint glass of MiWadi with lots of ice (I know, hardcore, be jel)

4. Talk about it: Yes, sometimes it is a good idea to give your Biology Respiration chapter a counselling session. Make it easier for you to enjoy, and it will be easier to remember. For me, I always learn the most when I talking, so give it a try and mix up your accents to make it easier to remember. A guaranteed win.

5. Treat yourself: Motivation by food always works. Give yourself one square of chocolate for every 30 minutes you spend studying. Trust me, with enough self control this really helps

6. Take a Break: But not too many breaks, never too many breaks. Some days a break turns into an "oh, I'll floss my teeth," which turns into an "ooh facemask" and finally a moment of "I'm gonna write a blog post about study motivation to motivate myself." And that is pretty much the definition of too many breaks..

7. PMA: Positive Mental Attitude. Your study books never started out hating you so don't start hating on them! Just take your time, have patience and always quiz yourself when you finish a new chapter.

Anyhooo, I hoped this helped, even just a small bit,
Until next time,

PS This does NOT count as study!
Work hard is silence. Let success make it's own noise

SOSU by Suzanne Jackson: The Review

I must say I was more than delighted when I heard that Suzanne Jackson of So Sue Me brought out her own nail polish line. Having followed her for years it's so lovely to see how far she's come, so I was more than excited to pick up these pretties! I must admit I was really skeptical with regards to whether or not these would be good, so I was glad to be so pleasantly surprised!

These polishes were true to colour, although I did use two coats they were really vibrant. The brush size is perfect for someone like me, who simply cannot paint nails very well! And while it may take a while to dry, it definitely has its promised "Salon Gel finish without the UV light"

I picked up the colours "Rock Candy," "Bare My Soul" and "Unicorn Dust." Take a peek below;

"Rock Candy" was definitely my fave. Although it did take two coats, it looks so good on (and I'm usually not a fan of pink nail polish!). I love sparkly nail polishes, so "Unicorn Dust" was a must have for me. This one really impressed me the most, because I rarely come across a sparkly polish that doesn't drown your nails in the midst of trying to make them sparkle. And finally "Bare My Soul" was a really nice shimmery green, really bold but really glamourous with a slight sparkle.

These polishes are €7.99, and well they're pretty much available everywhere at the moment! So make sure you get your hands on some of these while they're still around,

Darkness Into Light

Early this morning the people of my community, and communities across Ireland rose up against suicide in a 5K walk/run at 4:15am. As you can imagine, dragging myself out of bed at that hour is usually a struggle, but this time it was worth it, and I really loved being part of this movement against suicide

When I arrived to town with my sister Molly and my friend Jean, I must say I was so impressed to see all the work that went in to creating this empowering event. The roads and walls were lined with these cute candles, and before we left everyone got to carry the light with them (so cute!). But behind all this commotion was three very strong women, who should be proud of all they have done to ensure the whole event ran as according to plan. Between them, they managed to bring communities together so that no one walked alone.

Although the mini candles were cute, I probably wouldn't have enjoyed it as much without my own little light, my sister Molly - even though she can be quite annoying at 4:15 in the morning! Sisters by chance, friends by choice.

If you're following me on Facebook (HERE), or Instagram (HERE) you may have already caught a glimpse of this look, but finally here's all the deets on What I Wore! I really love the simplicity of this look. Sometimes less is more, and perhaps this outfit proves that theory right! Make sure you drop a line in the comments below and let me know what you think;

Shirt, H&M // Trousers, H&M // Shoes, Topshop // Necklace, Pandora

You're going to have to excuse my awkward poses, it just really wasn't my day! I love the pattern on these pants, it's really simple yet elegant. If you've seen my New York Haul (HERE) you'll know that these pretties were only $9.99, what a bargain!! Make sure you check out H&M and catch these while they're still there - perfect wardrobe staple

I love my Pandora! It may be pretty old but this one is certainly a timeless piece! My Topshop pumps are so versatile. I got these last year for a Business Pitch, but they work well with dressing up almost any outfit!

C'est tout pour le moment!
